Christian M. Poole is the Director of Bands at Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, PA. A native of Baltimore Maryland, Mr. Poole attended Towson University in Towson Maryland, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1986 and later attended Towson University earning his Master of Music Education Degree in 1998. He studied percussion with Dale Rauschenberg and saxophone with Joe Briscusso.
Mr. Poole began his teaching career for the Baltimore County School System, where he worked at Franklin Middle and Franklin High schools for 19 years. During that time, his Concert Bands received superior ratings at county and state music assessments and led many students to receive superior ratings at the county and state Solo and Ensemble Festivals.
During Mr. Poole's tenure at Susquehannock High School, the marching band has won the Cavalcade of Bands American Class Championships and the USSBA Group 2 Pennsylvania State Championships twice.
Numerous Susquehannock band students have also been participants in the Pennsylvania All-State Bands, the Pennsylvania Region 5 State Bands, the Pennsylvania District 7 Band, the Pennsylvania District 7 Jazz Band, the York County Band and the U.S. Army All-American Band. Graduates of the Susquehannock band program are currently active participants in the band programs at West Chester University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Oklahoma State University, Bowling Green University and James Madison University, with those graduates pursuing careers in music.
During the summer, Mr. Poole serves on the faculty for the Maryland Summer Center for the Arts Orchestra, at Salisbury State University. Recently, Mr. Poole played Dan Devereaux's drummer in the movie "My One and Only," starring Kevin Bacon. Additionally, Mr. Poole has served on the board for the Maryland Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and is a member of MENC.
